About Liberty Lodge

Liberty Lodge provides a modern, high quality service for difficult-to-place young people. We aim to deliver an outstanding environment coupled with innovative therapeutic care, all in a nurturing setting. Our vision is to provide a nurturing and containing group living experience and we take time to listen, learn and work together to find a suitable approach that helps these young people reach positive outcomes.

We base our understanding and engagement with young people using the secure base model of care.

Situated in an urban location near Ipswich town center, Liberty Lodge offers accommodation for up to six young people aged 9 – 17 years on referral.

The Primary Task

Making a long term commitment to helping and preparing young people to grow and develop into adulthood, through building positive relationships and living and learning together within a nurturing home.

The Home Environment

Liberty Lodge is situated in a large and spacious Victorian house in an urban and multicultural location near the center of Ipswich.
The living accommodation comprises two large lounges with televisions, DVD players, computers and music; a large kitchen/dining area and utility area.
A meetings room; therapy room; secure office and staff wash room complete the ground floor.
There are six individual bedrooms on a split level landing on the upper floor as well as two bath/shower rooms.
The education suites are situated in the lower ground floor and we also have a multimedia room (studio 24) for the young people to play, make music and design digital art.
There is a spacious garden with vegetable plot and herb garden and a patio area at the rear of the house.

At Liberty Lodge we believe that our young people should have access to a wide range of activities, experiences and resources. All young people are offered an activity program designed to meed their individual needs and we actively encourage young people to be engaged in as much of the decision making as possible.

All young people are encouraged to experience a wide range of activities to offer alternative experiences, develop social and life skills and meet other young people. Activities are chosen to be interesting and exciting for those taking part in them and allow the young people to develop self esteem and confidence through success.

Liberty Lodge believes in healthy lifestyles and choices. To this purpose a varied menu meeting all dietary requirements is provided and experimentation in attempting alternative styles of healthy eating is encouraged. The young people are encouraged to take part in the planning of the menus and preparation of meals as part of the life of the home.
